Fantastic weather in Sydney this weekend. Huge improvement over the rain we got last weekend. Not only did it give us a chance to check out a great new little spot during our house hunting (check out Oatley!), but it also gave me a chance to play Ultimate at Coogee beach.
How cool is that?! I’ll tell you - it’s pretty cool. Yup.

Back in Canada - we’d play Ultimate in all sorts of weather - rain or shine. Here, even the hint of rain cancels it.
One of the leagues I’m in at the moment (Northern Suburbs League) has had nearly half of the games cancelled in the last 3 months. I just got an e-mail saying that tonight games are cancelled due to the rain we had on the weekend! Unbelievable. The sun’s out and everything now. Bunch of babies they are - the whole lot of them. I suppose that’s not the issue - and they want to keep the turf nice - but come on…
Frustrating. In arguably the driest country in the world - this shouldn’t be happening.

Some new pictures are up from the Dukes of Hammered’s playoffs a couple of weeks back. Mad props to Andy’s Dad, Mr. Gullins for his usual great photography work! We had a great season: undefeated in the second half of the season until the playoffs, in which we lost to the wankers that are the Blood Huckers. A number of our key players were absent from the playoffs, so that hurt us a bit. However, we still managed to snag a respectable 3rd place. Fall league for the Dukes starts tomorrow, and I’ll sure miss playing with them after my move.

Those of you still tuning in are probably wondering what’s been going on lately. Well, the sun is finally shining after a long winter in Ottawa. Believe me, it was a long harsh winter for someone who hasn’t been through one in 3 years. It’s nice to see the weather getting nice. Today is a beautiful 19 degrees! This is the stuff I moved back to Canada for.
I’ve already got my summer activities all planned out. I’m playing on two Ultimate teams (Tuesday and Wednesday nights) in addition to the company softball team. To broaden my Ultimate experience, I’ve been working with my pal Andy to set up and help captain the Tuesday night Ultimate team. We’re called the Dukes of Hammered, and we’ve got a great crew from what I can tell thus far. Our name may be cheesey, but we’ve got a kick ass logo designed by yours truly. Stay tuned for upcoming pictures from our owning of the lower OCUA tiers.
