Welcome to genfab.com version 4.0 beta! In a bold move, here’s the new genfab.com, in all its WordPress-y glory!

As you can see - lots has changed. Some stuff is new. Some stuff is old. Some stuff is lost. Even more stuff is broken. It’ll all be coming together soon - bare with me. This was a bigger project than I anticipated!

All of the blog entries and user accounts have been imported into the new genfab.com, but the comments were sadly lost. It was just all too complicated for me - one man - to undertake in my “free” time.

Have a look around and tell me if you notice something broken or just plain odd! More to come - stay tuned…

Feeling unsatisfied with the current state of phpWebSite (the software that runs genfab.com), I’ve decided to take the plunge and switch teams. I’m in the middle of transitioning genfab to use WordPress. It’s a bit of a “make work” project for sure, but I like playing around with new stuff and the challenge of it all. I’ll transition most of the current content to WordPress, but overall it will be another clean slate for genfab. I feel as though it’s time for an ovehaul anyways!

In other news - Makiko & I have made some plans for Easter weekend. We’ve booked train tickets to go to Brisbane for the weekend. It’ll be our first real trip within Australia that’s not work related. A nice change! We’ll be sure and take lots of pictures and bring you all along for the ride.

Why else would people post details of their mundane lives on the Internet for the whole world to see. Everyone wants to be a rock star… to have admirers worship the ground they walk on… to have a fan club dedicated just for them.

This is my fan club. This is where I come to worship myself even. To recount days gone by, and reflect on the good times and achievements in my life. And why shouldn’t I have a fun club? “Because you suck.” you might say. Then to you I say: Where’s your fan club?

Rainy weekend here at the moment. I hope it clears up soon, or else I’ll get cabin fever. Next week, Makiko and I will likely take a day off from work and head to Tokyo Disney Sea. It looks like great fun. I mistakenly thought it was a water park, so I figured it was too cold. Boy, was I wrong. This is the only Disney theme park where you can buy alcohol! I wonder if they have Mickey Mouse foam dome hats…

Took a day off from work today to get a little R&R. Guess all that travel and hard work has finally caught up to me. Fortunately I’ve also got next Monday off as it’s Japanese Labour Day. Woohoo! That should keep my energy level up to make it to Christmas.

You may have noticed a number of things being shifted around, as well as changes to the look and feel of genfab.com. I think I’ve just about got it exactly how I want it now, with most of the kinks worked out. If you see anything that doesn’t work, let me know. I’ve also opened up the Account Signup and Login features again, since I’ve noticed people are stopping by more regularly now. I’ll try to keep the site up to date as long as you guys keep reading.
