Indeed Christmas will soon be upon us – even for those of us south of the equator. It’s hard to fathom with this heat that Christmas is just a couple of weeks away, but it is. It’s definitely a challenge getting into the spirit of it all for Canadians. Of course for the locals – it’s the norm. You don’t need to remind the good people down the street from us at the Oceanic Cafe that Santa’s on his way…
Yes, this fine establishment has been a staple of Surry Hills for generations. While it may be in dire need of a makeover (and a visit from the health inspector!) they are fully decked out for the holidays:
What – you can’t tell from all that crap they write on their windows? Take a closer look…
Ah yes – there it is – a dingy old plastic Santa and some tinsel. I’ll bet the Santa is worth more on eBay than the whole shop.
And no – these were not just sitting out there all year round – the restaurant actually made an effort to decorate for the holidays. Well, good on them for trying.
You still wouldn’t catch me eating any of their beef rissoles though…
