Back in Canada – we’d play Ultimate in all sorts of weather – rain or shine. Here, even the hint of rain cancels it.
One of the leagues I’m in at the moment (Northern Suburbs League) has had nearly half of the games cancelled in the last 3 months. I just got an e-mail saying that tonight games are cancelled due to the rain we had on the weekend! Unbelievable. The sun’s out and everything now. Bunch of babies they are – the whole lot of them. I suppose that’s not the issue – and they want to keep the turf nice – but come on…
Frustrating. In arguably the driest country in the world – this shouldn’t be happening.

Ha! Bunch of Australian pussies! Tell em to go to a country (like Canada) that knows how to play ultimate.
Let me know when there’s an outdoor ultimate league in the Canadian winter. Then we’ll see how tough you are
At least you can play all year round down there. Stop complaining.
Bah! Complain if I want to… and I will!
There is the occasional game or tournament outdoors in the winter in Canada. Doubt there’s a league – but who knows, there’s a lot of granola munching stoners that would do it…

Hey Alex – long time no see for sure! Indeed I am becoming more Australian with each passing week. My Canadian accent is firmly burned into my brain tho!
I’m actually coming to Melbourne this week for the majority of the week. If all goes well, I may have time to drop by to see my friends in your office!
Cheers,
Scott
[...] Grrr…. not again!! It was rainy this past weekend and we had a shower or two on Monday. Here we are Tuesday – beautiful skies, hardly a cloud around, streets are dry – and the ultimate fields are closed! What a rip off… And to think I pay to play, and it gets rained out on sunny days. Ridiculous. [...]
