Ages and ages since my last post – I know. I apologize. Truth is, we’ve been so busy with our company here the last couple of months it’s been hard to find time to do things like update genfab.com. My mom & Don are still visiting, so once they’ve headed back to the Great White North there will be more time for exploring more of Australia and keeping you all entertained.

Until then – here’s a blast from the past. Likely very few of you would recognize this, but those that do would get a kick out of it…

My old buddy Paddy & I made a number of animations on the PC years and YEARS ago (like over 15 – yes, I’ve been a geek for a long time!) using an application called Fantavision. Fantavision was a lot like Flash – it let you create pretty simple vector based animations with color, sound, etc. It was way ahead of its time – the stuff you could make with it was impressive for software back then. Paddy & I made these legendary animations of his younger brother “Ooner” (actually – his name is Andrew but Ooner’s a much better name for him). Ooner repeatedly had these hilarious (and often violent) incidents with his arch enemy: The Fly. Oh – that Fly – he’s a bastard. You gotta feel sorry for Ooner when you see the hell he puts him through.

To my amazement, Paddy kept all those animations that we made! To my further amazement, the old MS-DOS application to play them still works on Windows XP. But who knows though – likely future versions of Windows will be unable to play these animations and thus history will be forever lost. To avoid such a catastrophe I’ve decided to undertake the task of converting and updating the animations to Flash.

With all that said, I bring to you: Ooner vs. The Fly – Episode 1: The Sword – in Flash! Enjoy.
